Regarding the new Japanese consumption tax
As some of you may already know, the Japanese Government will be raising the consumption tax from 8% to 10% this coming October. As Cafetalk is headquartered in Japan, this tax rate will also be reflected on new Point purchases effective October 1, 2019 (Japan Time).
Furthermore, due to a legal requirement to separately manage Points which were bought at 8% and 10% respectively, purchasing new points will no longer affect the validity of your previous account balance. That is, each set of purchased Points will carry its own valid-to date.
Example purchases:
Sep 1, 2019
500 Points purchased at 540JPY(Tax inclusive) Expiration Date: Feb 1, 2020
Oct 1, 2019
500 Points purchased at 550JPY(Tax inclusive) Expiration Date: Mar 1, 2020
Oct 15, 2019
500 Points purchased at 550JPY(Tax inclusive) Expiration Date: Mar 15, 2020
(The second purchase will not extend the validity of the first 500 Points bought on September 1st)
Points used on or after October 1, 2019 (Japan Time) will be consumed in order of earliest to latest.
