Cancellation Policies and Time Frames for Rescheduling Lessons

You can either use Cafetalk's default Cancellation Policy or set up your own Custom Policy.

Default Cancellation Policy

By default your Cancellation Policy will be set to 24 hours. That means that any cancellation done more than 24 hours before the the lesson start time will be free of charge for the student. If the student cancels within less than 24 hours before the scheduled time you may charge a fee (50 or 100%) or return the points.

If a request is cancelled you can decide the cancellation fee case-by-case. The fee isn't fixed by the cancellation policy.

Custom Cancellation Policy

It's also possible to set a custom cancellation policy that displays two different options. You can choose to set time frames that are longer or shorter than 24 hours, as well as specify the cancellation fee that you plan to charge.

If a request is cancelled you can decide the cancellation fee case-by-case. The fee isn't fixed by the cancellation policy.

Time Frames for Rescheduling Lessons

The default time frame for rescheduling lessons is 24 hours. That means that either the tutor or the student can ask to reschedule a lesson if there is still more than 24 hours left before the original scheduled lesson start time.

If a tutor's cancellation policy specifies that a cancellation fee will be charged for a cancellation within a time frame that is longer than 24 hours, then the time frame for rescheduling lessons is automatically adapted to the longest option in the cancellation policy.

If a tutor's cancellation policy specifies that a cancellation fee will be charged for a cancellation within a time frame that is shorter than 24 hours, then the time frame for rescheduling lessons is fixed at 24 hours. In order to avoid trouble between tutors and students of different time zones, rescheduling lessons within less than 24 hours is not possible.

Both parties can generally only ask to reschedule the lesson once each.

Exceptions can be made if the tutor or student can present a written conversation to Cafetalk support, that allows the support team to verify that both parties agreed on rescheduling a lesson.
